Dear Friends,
When a woman’s economic status improves, the benefits ripple outward—
transforming not only her life but also her family, community, and society as a
whole. In 2024, the Women’s Foundation of Boston reached an exciting
milestone. Since our first grant in 2018, we have economically empowered
more than 20,300 women and girls in Massachusetts’ most under-resourced
communities.
In 2024, we empowered 3,900 women and girls and awarded $2.6 million in
grants, deepening our impact across the Commonwealth, particularly in Central and
Western Massachusetts. As the only funder in the state exclusively dedicated to
women and girls through large, multi-year grants, we remain a critical force for change.
Our work addresses a major philanthropic gap—only 1.4% of all charitable
contributions in Massachusetts support nonprofits focused on women and girls. Since
our founding, we have awarded over $8.5 million to these organizations, building
strong partnerships that have enabled our nonprofit partners to strategically grow as an
ecosystem. Yet, many communities still lack vital resources. To meet this growing need,
we are fortifying the Foundation’s future by expanding our endowment and ensuring
long-term financial sustainability.
